A memorial mass for Lenora “Andy” Marie Harris, age 90, of Mott, N.D. will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison, S.D. Father Tony Grossenburg will officiate with burial in the Hettinger Cemetery in Hettinger, N.D.
Lenora “Andy” Marie Harris was born Oct. 6, 1921, on her grandfathers’ farm in Lastrup, Minnesota.
Her family moved to South Dakota in 1926. Lenora attended grade school at White Hill just a mile from home. She grew up on the farm enjoying riding her horse, Daisy, herding sheep and helping with chores in the house and outside. She loved playing Canasta, Rummikub, gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, taking pictures and watching the stars and studying the moon.
Lenora worked many places throughout her life including the Prairie City Café, City Café in Bison, Wagon Wheel Café in Hettinger, West River Nursing Home in Hettinger, and cleaned for many people including Mrs. Vern Erickson, Lauretta Miller and Truman Quall. She worked at the Dakota Buttes Museum in Hettinger until she was well into her 80s. She was a very hard worker and was always ready to help her family whenever she could. She loved her nieces and nephews and was a big part of their lives as they grew up. Their visits always brought a smile to her face and she loved baking for them. Every time anyone visited her, the camera came out and there was many pictures taken. Lenora frequently talked about playing cards with the neighbors until wee hours of the morning.
She was strong in her Catholic faith and attended Our Lady of the Prairie in Reva ,S.D. Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger, N..D and the Blessed Sacrament in Bison SD. Attending Mass was a very important part in her life.
She passed from this life on August 5, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society, Mott, N.D.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law Ed and Janette Harris, an infant brother, and a niece Diana Neurohr.
A memorial has been established to Good Samaritan Society of Mott, N.D.
