Gerald Swenson, a resident of San Juan Capistrano for nearly 40 years, passed away on Aug. 6, 2012. He was born and raised near Hettinger, North Dakota, where he began his lifelong love of tractors and Peggy Berg, his wife of 60 years.
Gerald grew up in Darlings Springs Township. He was born about 1930 and
graduated from Hettinger with the class of 1947. He was an active father that enjoyed camping, water skiing, playing cards, and traveling to visit his large group of family and friends. He was employed at the Endevco Corporation for 40 years and was a well respected peer in his field. He was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for 38 years and lived his faith daily in many acts and deeds. He enjoyed spending his free time volunteering with friends at the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista, Calif. He was a much beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, and will be greatly missed.
Family members who have passed on are his parents: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Swenson; siblings Swen Eddie, Orval, Lola, and Ida.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his 4 children, Debbie, Gary, Diane and Scott; and 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Viola Yohe, formerly of Bison, S.D., and now of Minnesota.
A memorial service celebrating him will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Dana Point.
