Funeral services for Sandra Louise Howick, 54, of Hettinger, N.D. were held at the United Methodist Church in Hettinger on Tuesday evening, March 12, 2013 at 6 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship, coffee and cookie bars.

Funeral services for Sandra Louise Howick, 54, of Hettinger, N.D. were held at the United Methodist Church in Hettinger on Tuesday evening, March 12, 2013 at 6 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship, coffee and cookie bars. Rev. Paul Lint officiated and burial will be at a later date in Ferndale, Wash. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the Church on Tuesday evening.
Sandra Louise Howick (nee Katvala) passed away in her home in Hettinger, N.D. on March 7, 2013. She was 54 years old.
Sandra (or Louise as her family called her) was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Sandra was born Aug. 16, 1958 in Eureka, Calif. to Martin Katvala and Sandra Dean, the oldest of four children. She graduated from the University of Arizona, and worked as a phlebotomist, medical technologist and assistant lab manager for many hospitals. She most recently worked as an Assistant Lab Manager at West River Health Services in Hettinger.
Sandra was passionate about life and serving others. She made close friends in every community she lived in. She served the communities of San Manuel, Ariz.; Anacortes, Wash.; and Hettinger, N.D. with vim and vigor. Sandra was also very passionate about her faith, and was an amazing example of a loving Christian.
Sandra was also very committed to her family and could be depended on to be there whenever she was needed. An active traveler, Sandra traveled all around the United States and the world. On family vacations, she could always be depended on to take pictures of everything and of every moment. Sandra made the world brighter with her enthusiasm and passion for life.
She is survived by her mother, Sandra Dean; her sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Carol Peacock; her brother and sister in-law, Martin and Sylvia Katvala, her stepbrothers and stepsisters, and her nieces and nephews. They love her and miss her dearly.
Sandra was preceeded in death by her husband, Roger Howick; her father, Martin Ernest Katvala, Sr.; her stepmother, Audrey Katvala; and her brother, David Kern.
