Buddy W. O’Neal Jr., age 54 of New England, N.D., passed away late Sunday evening Feb. 23, 2014 at his home in New England.
Buddy was born on July 15, 1959 in Denver, Colo. to Buddy Wayne O’Neal, Sr. and Jeanne (Steinhour) O’Neal. He moved with his mother, brother and sister to Killdeer, N.D. where he attended school in Killdeer and in Lemmon, S.D.
Buddy had numerous jobs throughout his life. His most recent ones were delivery for Ameri Pride where he was known for his whistling. He also worked part time at Simonson’s in Dickinson, N.D. His last job was delivery of the local papers in the area.
Buddy loved his pets, especially his two dogs, known as the “girls” when he talked about them. He loved taking pictures and took a lot of his pets.
Buddy was a big football fan and a huge NASCAR fan where he loved to bet and text with his sisters. He had a collection of eagles, but his smile, love for this family, friends, the love for his pets and his whistling will be greatly missed.
Buddy is survived by his sister, Susan (Lyle) Haberstroh, Hettinger, N.D. and his half-sister, Tina (Bob) Winzent, Denver, Colo.; his previous wife of 17 years, Becky O’Neal, Dickinson, N.D.; mother-in-law, Peggy Benz, Dickinson, N.D.; foster mother, Luella Gupman, Rugby, N.D., numerous foster brothers and sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Frank, his grandparents, his foster father, Philip Gupman, father-in-law, Bernie Benz and his beloved dog, Elmer.
A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
