Entries needed for Hettinger’s 4th of July Parade

Businesses, organizations, families and individuals are encouraged to submit entries for the parade.

The parade theme this year is Prairie Heritage. Parade line up begins at 9:30 a.m. off Airport Road with a start-time of 11 a.m.

Entry forms are available at the Hettinger Chamber Office or can be downloaded at www.hettingernd.com

Plaques will be given to winners in the following categories: Best of Parade Theme, Best historic, Best Youth, best Vehicle Entry and Best Animal Entry. Children participating in the parade will receive ribbons.

While everyone is getting ready for the parade, the there will be a fireman’s breakfast served at the American Legion from 6:30 to 10 a.m. For the really early risers, the 24th annual WRHS Fun Run and Walk will hold registrations from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. at Mirror Lake Park. The kid’s 1K run starts at 7:30 followed by the 3K run and walk at 8 a.m.

After the Parade down Main Street, everyone will head back to Mirror Lake Park for a free noon meal.

At 1 p.m. the choices split out, as a Hoop Shoot will take place at eh park, a horseshoe tournament at the Legion and children’s inflatable games start at the park.

Out tat the Country Club, the Big Bang Mixed Scramble tees off at 1:30 p.m. and Bingo starts at the Woodfire Grill at 2p.m.

For those seeking a little more outdoor adventure, mud volleyball will be held at the Adams County Fairgrounds from 2 to 4 p.m.

From 5:30 to 9 p.m. live entertainment will be held at Mirror Lake, and the evening will reach an explosive conclusion with the annual Hettinger Jaycees fireworks show at 10 p.m.

Other weekend events include the Class of 1962 and Class of 1982 reunion socials at the Country club, and a dance featuring “32 Below” at the Pastime Bar.

Sunday, July 1 the County Club will host the 5th Annual Tom and Michele Shirek Memorial Scramble (sign up deadline is June 30 by 6 p.m. at 701-567-2339.)

More reunions are schedules for the Class of ’71 at 6 p.m. at Colette Ahmann’s and the Class of ’92 at 4 p.m. at the Country Club.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. the Pastime will hold a steak fry at Mirror Lake Park, and a kids meal will be available at the Tent-Band shell.

”Dirty Word” will provide music beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Concessions will be available around town throughout the weekend, and posters provide prices, as does www.hettingernd.com.
