“The Bulldogs are now a competitive team that will push several teams in the region including my team,” noted Night Hawk’s Coach Burwick.

Bowman County/Beach has already recorded a big win over Watford City this season. With that knowledge, the Night Hawks had to be ready to wrestle Thursday.

And wrestle they did, Coach Burwick would see his team dominate the mat with a 49-21 Region IV victory. “For the most part I am very happy with the way the night went. We wrestled tough and with tenacity. I can only think of one match we left on the mat. I am happy with the win,” said Coach Burwick.

The match started at 106 pounds as Alec Andress battled Tyler Longland. The match was an exciting back and forth affair. Finally, a big move late in the third period would see Andress secure the 19-10 major decision, giving the Night Hawks a 4-0 lead. That lead would swell to 7-0 as Lucas Ormiston would take on Talan Neilson. It would be another match that would go to the wire only to see Ormiston secure a 9-4 decision.

Chauncey Hughes would keep the winning going at 120 pounds. Matt Carlson would give Hughes a great match, but in the end Carlson would fall by pin to Hughes in 4:30. The six team points would expand HSRTH’s lead to 13-0.

At 126 pounds, the match up would be Codi Tomac and Stering Brown. It was not much of a match up as Tomac dominated Brown in tune to a pin in 1:27. The Night Hawks lead would swell to 19-0.

Bowman County would finally break into to winning column at 132 pounds. Tel Lardy would take on Braxon Yates. Yates would tie the match at 7-7 late in the second period and then takes a lead of 8-7 early in the third. Lardy would finally secure the pin in 4:52, cutting the Night Hawk lead to 19-6. Trevor Abrahamson would see his first action of the season at 138 pounds for Coach Burwick. Abrahamson would take on the cradling machine of Eric Buccholz. The match was tight but in the end Buccholz was too much as he got the pin in 4:52. The lead was again cut, now the score was 19-12.

Logan Lochowitzer would get the Night Hawks back on track at 145 pounds. Curtis Summer would fall to the young up and comer by a score of 11-5. The three point match would now extend the Night Hawk lead to 22-12. At 152 pounds, Rodney Vanhoff would completely dominate a young Troy Steele of the Bulldogs.

Vanhoff would use his patented leg riding technique to come away with an 8-1 win. The only point given up a Rodney error, his defense was outstanding throughout. The lead would again swell to 25-12.

Four straight forfeits by Bowman County/Beach would put the dual out of reach.

The Night Hawks would take the free 24 points and a 49-12 lead. The next match at 220 pitted Denby Lueck against Nolan Dolynuik. The closest match of the evening would see Denby tie the match at the end of the third quarter by pushing the action and getting his second stall point. In sudden victory it would be Dolynuik that would record the take down for a 4-2 win.

Finally at 285, the match up would pit Brandon Ehlers against Jacob Hildebrandt. First quarter action was exciting as both men were a bit cautious. It would be Dolynuik who would then record the pin in the second period bringing the final score to 49-21.

The Night Hawks are now off for Christmas break. Their next action will be hosting the Night Hawks classic on Jan. 4 and 5. This 14 team tournament will an exciting one to start off the second half of the season.
