I was informed that Hettinger will not have a legion baseball team this year due to lack of sufficient players. Unless someone knows differently, I can’t remember Hettinger not being able to field a legion team. Hettinger-Scranton did field a high school baseball team with the help of a couple of New England players. Probably about half of the high school team are still Babe Ruth eligible and may not want to play both Babe Ruth and Legion. I understand about four of the high school team players are playing with the Highway 21 team and some of the games may be played in Hettinger.
There will also be tennis sessions later this month when the tennis courts are finished being resurfaced. I was told there are about 37 sign ups already.
Randy Burwick’s annual wrestling camp runs 10-11 June 13, featuring N.D. State Champions from the Hettinger Wrestling Progam: Kayle Dangerud, Duane Engraf, Sean Elkins, Luke Boxrud, and Theo Schalesky. The camp is full.
My 6-year-old grandson, Noah Harriman, is attending again. I hope his attention span is better this year. A high note for him is two of his friends from Bowman, Taylor and Austin Wanner, will also be attending. Noah told me he doesn’t want to wrestle Taylor because he is so good. I’m trying to convince him that wrestling tougher competition will only make him better. Time will tell.
See you at the games.
