I see that the North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) reversed their decision of a couple of years ago to switch the Class B boys and girls start dates for basketball. This will be effective with the 2014-15 season and means the girls will start first and the boys will finish last. It also means Bismarck is now in play to host the boy’s state Class B tournament. In fact, it was reported that the girls and boys state tournaments have switched for the 2015. The girls will be in Minot, 5-7 March, and the boys in Bismarck, 19-21 March.

The NDHSAA staff also brought forth a seeding process for the volleyball, boys and girls basketball and baseball tournaments. Seeding for all four tournaments is uniform and will begin during the 2013-14 season. I feel that this should have been done years ago.

Randy Burwick had some of his wrestlers in Billings for the Grand Nationals, 13-15 Jun. Team ND finished 2nd place in the tournament. A great job by all the kids from ND. Here are the results:

On 17 Jun the Little League lost to New England, 6-5, and the Midgets split with New England. They lost the first game 15-14 and won the second one, 10-2.

According to Adam Hill, Hettinger-Scranton’s (HS) summer basketball team was in Dickinson State’s basketball camp, 21-22 Jun. They beat Carrington 63-58, lost to Rugby 63-39, and beat Watford City 80-41 on Friday. On Saturday they lost to New Town, Shiloh, and Flasher. They then lost to Rugby in the tournament. So far they have a 14-8 record in summer play.

As you may know, HS does not have a legion baseball team. But four of their players play with the Highway 21 legion team made up of players from the other towns of Mott, New England, Killdeer and Dickinson. Their current record is 2-2 with games in Hettinger on 25 & 27 Jun. The game on 27 Jun starts at 4:00 PM. Seth Fischer from Mott is the coach.

Below is the schedule for 27 June – 5 July. All Little League (LL) & Midgets games are played at 3:00 and 5:00, unless otherwise written.

All Girls Softball (GSB) games are played at 5:00 (SB Fields)
