Hettinger to host Choirfest

The 10th Annual Choirfest will be hosted by Hettinger High School, and held in the Roberts- Reinke Auditorium on Oct. 7, 2013 at 7 p.m. Posted Sept. 27, 2013

The Choirfest originated in 2005 with the first “Fest” held in Belfied.  Since that time, the Choirfest has rotated between schools that are involved in the Fest.

In 2011 two Choirfests were held.  One in the Fall, and one in the Spring.

Schools that have been involved in the past are:  Belfield, South Heart, Bowman, Scranton, and Hettinger.  Guest conductors from the past include Dr. Kenneth Williams (DSU), and Dr. Bruce Southard also from DSU.

The conductor for the Choirfest this year is the director of choral activities from Dickinson State University, Dr. Bruce Southard.

The schools in this year’s Choirfest are South Heart, Hettinger, Bowman and Belfield.

The selections the choirs are performing together include: “ Shut de Do” by Randy Stonehill, “Away From The Roll Of The Sea” by Allister MacGillivray, “Hine Ma Tov” by Allan Naplan, and “Yesu Ni Wangu” by Ruth Morris Gray.  The Women’s Choir selection is, “J’entends Le Moulin” arranged by Emily Crocker, and the Men’s group selection is, “I Feel Fine” arranged by Roger Emerson.  The choirs will also be performing one song each individually.

Accompanying the choir on piano will be, Jana Schweigert, South Heart, Charm Martian, Bowman, and Gina Joyce, Hettinger.

This is sure to be a wonderful night of music, so please join us in the Celebration of Song.  A free will offering will be taken at the door.
