Zachary Honeyman, 28, died Monday Aug. 4th, at approximately 5:30 a.m. after an automobile accident in Dickinson, near WalMart.

Honeyman was driving a white Kia Sportage, northbound on Highway 22 when he struck the back portion of a Kenworth semi truck with a construction trailer, in the middle of the intersection, resulting in his car becoming lodged under the trailer. The semi truck was traveling westbound on 29th Street and was making a left turn onto Highway 22. Honeymann was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the accident.
The semi truck was driven by Louis Vollmer, 69, of Mellette, S.D. The accident continues to remain under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Sgt. Shawn Skogen said “I was on the scene of the accident to help with the investigation, but cannot comment on the case because it is still under investigation.”
Service of Remembrance for Zach Honeyman, 28, of Dickinson, ND, formerly of Hettinger, ND will be 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10th, 2014 at the Hettinger Armory. Rev. Kathleen Dettmann will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors will be on Monday, August 11th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. CT, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery south of Mandan, ND. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9th, followed by a Prayer Service/Gathering of Family and Friends at 7:00 p.m. at the Hettinger Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the Funeral on Sunday afternoon at the Armory.
Zachary Ryan Honeyman was born in Hettinger, ND to John and Kim (Jorgensen) Honeyman on June 9th, 1986. He grew up in Hettinger. Zach graduated from Hettinger High School in 2004. Following graduation, Zach enlisted in the National Guard and volunteered to go to Iraq with his unit. He was deployed to Iraq from 2005 to 2006 and served his country honorably.
Zach was united in marriage to Briar Vadnie on November 13th, 2006. They made their home in Dickinson, ND, where he was presently employed with Nalco-Champion in Dickinson. On March 30, 2014 Zach and Briar were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Aurora Lee Honeyman. He truly loved being with his daughter and wife. Zach loved camping with friends and family, playing board games with his friends, was devoted to the Minnesota Vikings and his dog, Joey.
Zach died in a motor vehicle collision in Dickinson, ND on Monday morning, August 4, 2014.
Grateful for having shared in Zach’s life are his wife, Briar Honeyman and their 4 month old daughter, Aurora Honeyman, of Dickinson, ND, his father, John Honeyman, his mother, Kim Honeyman, his siblings, Mike Honeyman, Allison Honeyman (Kelin Hofland) and Lindsey Honeyman, his neices and nephews, Brynn Honeyman, Austin Honeyman and Emery Hofland, his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Kristi Vadnie, his brother-in-law, Brandon Vadnie, his neices and nephews, Destiny Vadnie and Gavin Vadnie, his grandparents, Greg and Maree Jorgensen and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Zach was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Sherry Honeyman, Jerald and Mary Elliott and Gordon and Lois Vadnie and an infant Baby Honeyman.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial has been established for his daughter, Aurora’s education.
