16 Youth Wrestlers head to Bismarck

The Hettinger Huskies had 16 wrestlers make the trip to Bismarck last weekend to wrestle in the Bismarck Gorilla Folk Style Tournament.

In the Sub Bantam Division, Alberto Verdin went 4-0 to take home first place with three pins. Dawson DeFoe went 1-3 with a pin for fourth place. Quinn Schalesky went 0-4 and took fifth place, and Trig Kelso went 3-1 to finish in second place.

Kyler Schalesky was the only entry in the Bantam Division, and Kyler picked up one pin and finished in  fourth place.

In the Intermediate Division, Nicholas Anderson had 2 pins on the way to a 4-0 day and a 1st Place finish. Jaron Frank had two pins, but lost a tight 2-0 decision to finish in 2nd place.

In the Novice Division, Peyton Tuhy went 2-2 with a 3rd-place finish, Conner Andress had a pin and went 2-2 to finish third. Cade Warbis had three pins on his way to a 4-0 day and a first-place trophy. Tristan Pekas went 3-1 with three pins and finished in second place.

In the School Boy Division, Josh Dix had a pin and went 1-2 to finish in third place, Mason Defoe had a pin plus a Sudden Victory to go 3-1 and finish in second place. Ty Warbis had a Tech Fall and a pin as he went 3-1 to also finish in second place.

And to round out the day with the Cadets, Carlos Martinez was 2-1 with a second-place finish and Cale Schalesky also went 2-1 to finish in second place.

The Huskies picked up 20 pins over the day long tournament.

Next up for the Huskies will be this Saturday, March 7, as the Huskies host their own tournament at the Roberts Reinke Auditorium.

Teams from North & South Dakota along with Montana attend this tournament every year and makes for some great wrestling from start to Finish.

Minot & Beulah are the only other tourneys on Saturday.
