Hettinger-Scranton jumped out to a 24-9 first quarter lead and continued to build on that lead as they downed the Beach Buccaneers 82-45 in their region play-in game.

Beach was just overmatched with the Nighthawks offense and hustling defense.  Hayden Sadowsky’s 3-point shooting was on as he hit seven in the first half and nine on the game for game-leading 37 points.  Team wise, Hettinger-Scranton nailed 14 3-pointers for the game.  Brandon Pierce took care of the board work with 10 rebounds and steady Isaiah Kludt added 11 points and six assists running the offense.   Jarett Hestekin had a nice second half production with eight points and two rebounds.  The Nighthawks recorded 10 steals with Tanner Sanford having four of them.

It was a nice gesture by the Nighthawks as they came out in green “Pray For Ray” warm-up T-shirts as a tribute to the three Ray basketball players who died in a tragic car accident.

They now take on Beulah on March 9 in their next game.  Beulah had previously defeated the Nighthawks during season play.  Come out and support the Nighthawks as I expect this will be a very competitive Region 7 tournament.
