The Hettinger-Scranton Nighthawks traveled to Beach on September 11 to meet up with the Beach Buccaneers in a Region 5 football game, and they came away with a solid performance on both sides of the line.

The Nighthawks won by a score of 68-20.

The scoring started quickly, on the first possession for Hettinger/Scranton Braxton Yates threw a short swing pass to Isaiah Kludt who turned on the burners and outran everyone for a 56-yard touchdown.  After Beach scored, Tanner Sanford ran for a 56-yard touchdown on the Nighthawks second possession.

Beach scored again to make the score 16-12 Nighthawk favor, and it was only the first quarter with more time left in the quarter.  But Beach would not score again until late in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Pierce would lead with 158 yards rushing of the total of 348 that Hettinger/Scranton accumulated.  He also scored four touchdowns (three rushing and one catch from Yates).  Sanford would add 62 rushing yards to that total.  Yates was 7 for 11 in the passing game for 164 yards with Kludt being his number one receiver with four receptions, good for 134 yards and two touchdown catches.

Hudson Pierce would also add a touchdown catch from Jaxon Mellmer. Yates and Bo Wilson each had a 1- yard touchdown run.

Intercepting passes for the Nighthawks were Sanford, Yates and Ben Were with one each.

The Nighthawks substitutions were able to gain some good varsity game experience as Coach Randy Burwick was able to play his second and third teams most of the second half.
