6th Grade Girls win 5th Place in Heart River Tourney

This past Saturday, nine girls from Hettinger/Scranton, took to the road for an 8-team tournament in South Heart in Belfield.

This past Saturday, nine girls from Hettinger/Scranton, took to the road for an 8-team tournament in South Heart in Belfield.

The Night Hawks played all three of their games in South Heart. It was a slow start in the first game as the Hawks lost to Heart River Gold 27–8.

Bailey Pierce, Grace Wolff, Naomi Salazar and Ella Jensen each put in two points each.The Girls regrouped and put a great game together against New England.

The Hawks jumped out to a 15-0 lead before ending the game with a 32-18 victory to move on to the fifth place game.

Bailey Pierce led the way with 10 points followed closely behind by Anna Havelcka with eight points. Other scorers, Naomi Salazar (4), Grace Wolff (2), Madison Wilson (2) and Ella Jensen. With the win, the Night Hawks would meet Bowman in their next game. Bowman defeated the 6th-graders earlier in the season in Bowman.

This time the Hawks took care of Bbusiness with a 24-16 victory to take home the 5th-place trophy. Bailey Pierce led the way with 14 points, Anna Havelcka added 6 points, Grace Wolff with 2 and Madison Wilson with 2.

The girls played their Hearts out all day and they were rewarded with a plaque. The Night Hawk team was comprised of:  Bailey Pierce, Grace Wolff, Naomi Salazar, Madison Wilson, Irish Morris, Anna Havelcka, Ella Jensen, Lily Steeke and Paris Ross.
