Night Hawks wrestlers are No. 1 dual team in Region 4

After a first round bye, the Hettinger-Scranton wrestling team defeated Watford City 60-12 and then earned the No. 1 seed out of Region 4 with a 51-21 win over Beulah-Hazen.

Beulah-Hazen placed second, Watford City third followed by Bowman County in fourth. Killdeer and New Salem-Almont tied for fifth.  New Town and Standing Rock did not send a team to the dual tourney.

Hettinger-Scranton and Beulah-Hazen will represent Region 4 in the state dual tournament.  Next up for Region 4 is the individual tournament on Feb. 13 at Watford City.  Top four in each weight class earn a trip to the state tourney in Fargo, Feb 18-20.

Team dual results: Watford City def. New Salem-Almont 42-22; Bowman County def. Killdeer 51-28; Hettinger-Scranton def. Watford City 60-12; Beulah-Hazen def. Bowman County 42-24; Bowman County def. New Salem-Almont 54-21; Watford City def. Killdeer 48-18; Watford City def. Bowman County 43-40; Beulah-Hazen def. Watford City 52-24; Hettinger-Scranton def. Beulah-Hazen 51-21.

Some interesting notes on this tourney was that is seemed no one wanted to wrestle top ranked Alex Barbion of Beulah-Hazen as he received three forfeits.  He is rated No. 1 in Region 4 at 195 and will probably be rated in the state as No. 1 also after his performance at the East/West Tournament.  I’m sure Night Hawk Alex Andress will now be No. 1 in Region 4 at 145 as he defeated the current No. 1, Josh Snyder of Beulah-Hazen.  That is the second time he has defeated him as he also won in dual match on Feb. 4.
