Elton Howard Davidson, 72, of Redfield, SD, died Friday, February 5, 2016, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.
His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mellette Cemetery in Mellette, SD. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Elton Howard Davidson was born April 30, 1943 in Hettinger, ND to Emil D. and Martha (Wifall) Davidson. He was baptized and confirmed at Richland Lutheran Church of rural Hettinger.
Elton attended Taylor Butte Grade School in Adams County, ND and he graduated from Hettinger High School in 1961.
Elton was a long distance trucker for many years. He, along with his faithful dog, experienced many interesting and sometimes dangerous adventures and met many unique individuals in their travels. It was fascinating to hear him relate some of these stories.
Elton was happiest working in his wood working shop with his dogs by his side. He had a talent for making beautiful items from wood; some of which he sold at markets and many he gave to friends and family. Elton also enjoyed hunting, fishing or watching his beloved Twins baseball team.
Elton and Sue Rivett Radke were married October 27th, 1994 and resided in Mellette, SD. Sue passed away October 10th, 2008.
He is survived by a step son Steve Radke; two sisters: Mildred (John) Wegner of Dickinson, ND and Avis Frantsen of Hazen, ND; two brothers: Don (Elaine) Davidson of Corona de Tucson, AZ and Les (Cindy) Davidson of Scottsdale, AZ and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Elton was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one brother and one sister, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
