Construction work began this week on I-94, between Belfield and South Heart. Work will consist of bridge replacements, concrete pavement repair work, overlay, and widening of ramps.
As part of the project, two bridges will be replaced at the Zenith underpass along with the overpass bridge at South Heart exit 51. The South Heart overpass bridge will be temporarily closed to traffic beginning April 1 through July, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured to Exit 42 at Belfield and Exit 56 during the closure.
· A detour will be in place at South Heart exit 51
· Traffic will be reduced to one lane and head-to-head during various parts of the project
· Speeds will be reduced
· A width restriction of 14 feet will be in place
· Flaggers may be present
· Motorists may experience minimal delays
The project is expected to be complete this fall.
