The Foundation at West River Health Services is still working hard to reach their goal of $145,500 to renovate 42 individual resident rooms at Western Horizons Care Center. This “One Room At a Time Together” Campaign has raised over $118,300 in the last 3 ½ months! We’re only $27,200 away from our goal.

The plan is to completely renovate each individual resident room – new flooring, new paint, new lighting, new furniture, new decorations – even new sinks and toilets! This building was erected in 1968 and is in dire need of refurbishments. Of course, no one wants to place their parents, siblings, and/or spouses into a care center; but sometimes, due to location or conditions, we have no choice. As a community, we want our elderly residents to have a nice, clean, home-like atmosphere to enjoy the last years of their life. Together we can make our current Care Center more comfortable, more appealing and more home-like for our residents. Being ranked recently as a five out of five star care center, we have the service side going strong. Now we need to improve our facility.

There are a variety of different ways you can join the “One Room” Campaign: 1) you can send a check to WRHSF ($100 or more gets you on the Donor Wall; $2500 or more gets you an engraved plaque outside a resident room), 2) you can make a monetary pledge over time (say 2-5 years), 3) you can join us as a family, business, or organization, where you sponsor an entire room from $2,500 – $4,000, or 4) you can support our fundraising events. Speaking of which, we just raised almost $38,000 for this Campaign via our 2nd Annual “Adult Prom.” Thank you to everyone who attended and participated.

Next up is our “Foundation Nation” Golf Scramble at Hettinger Country Club this Saturday, May 21. You can sign up as a team or we’ll place you on a team. To register, call the Hettinger Country Cluib at 701-567-2339 or Ted Uecker at 701-567-3666. The golf gets started at 4pm with a shotgun start. In addition to the golf, for the non-golfers, we are having Jaycee’s BINGO at 5pm. Once the golfers are finished, we will all join up for a game of BLACKOUT BINGO! Thereafter, will be a scrumptious meal, followed by the awards presentation. All of the net proceeds go toward our “One Room At a Time Together” Campaign at Western Horizons Care Center. It’s for a terrific cause. And whether you play golf or not, we’ll make sure you have fun!

You are welcome to tour Western Horizons Care Center to see what the new resident rooms look like by contacting Mark Prischmann at 701-567-2401. Come see the improvements for yourself. And then join the Campaign to help us complete our goal. Thank you.
