The Hettinger Country Club kicked off their 2016 season with a “Kickoff Scramble,” where 37 golfers came out to the course and enjoyed a 9-hole scramble golf tournament. Eight teams of foursomes and fivesomes vied for the title, with most donning their favorite football jerseys. Good thing, as they were asked to kick footballs for their drives on hole 7 and throw footballs for their drives on hole 8. From the sounds of it, the kicking and throwing was not too exemplary (but the golfing was!).

After 9 holes of terrific weather, the team of Cassie/Tyler Dick, Troy McGee, Joannie Schmaltz, and Dave Haar came in first with a score of six under par! They received cash gifts and hats for their awesome score. Coming in second at three under were the young bucks including Jerad Jacobson, Matt Schneider, Nate Weaver and Dillon Chadwick. They received cash prizes, hats and car visors. There was a three-way tie for third at two under par, but due to the tie-breaker system, the third place team consisted of Julia/Barry Melling, Jay Ohm, Sheri Uecker, and Todd Shirek. “The Family that Golf’s Together, Stays Together” Award went to Terry, Cori, Megan and Beth Lien, as they battled the course together.

There were also individual hole prizes: Closest to the Pin on hole 3 – Tyler Dick; Closest Second Shot on hole 5 – Beth Lien; Closest Second Shot on hole 7 – Jay Ohm; Closest to the Pin on hole 8 – Christi Schmitz; and Longest Made Putt on hole 9 – David Timm.
