Hettinger Country Club’s first mixed scramble of the year shoots lights out

The first Mixed Scramble of the year at Hettinger Country Club (HCC), held Wednesday, May 18, was highlighted by an amazing six under par score from the team of Rob/Krista Warbis, Ethan Andress and Jay Ohm. They chipped in for a birdie 2 on hole #3 and made their approach shot for an eagle 2 on hole #5! What a round! They received cash prizes and hats for their efforts.

Overall, 21 golfers made it out for the first Mixed Scramble of the year at HCC. The team of Dennis/Christina Maier, Sheri Uecker, Matt Schneider and Shawn Meador came in 2nd with a respectable three under par round. For their consistent efforts, they received cash prizes and golf calendars (with the upcoming mixed league and mixed scramble nights penciled in!). The Eaton’s and Roseland’s received kid’s prizes for participating in the scramble, with thoughts that their kids would appreciate if they entered the house with fun prizes (for them!).

The winners of the individual hole prizes were as follows: Longest Made Putt on #4 – Christina Maier; Closest to the Pin on #8 – Matt Schneider; Closest Second Shot on #7 – Jay Ohm. Each of these folk received prizes for their awesome shot-making efforts (including a wine sign, a set of grilling utensils and a golf hat).

A tasty meal of sloppy joes and cheesy potatoes was provided for everyone by our new Clubhouse Manager, Matt Schneider. Next week on May 25, the Mixed Couples League begins with a Mexican theme. The food will be authentic Mexican and we’re hoping the golfers will dress for the occasion as well. Currently there are 18 teams in the Mixed Couples Golf League. If you’re interested in joining, please contact Ted Uecker at 567-3666. The Mixed Couples League will play every other Wednesday throughout the summer, with Mixed Scrambles being held on the opposite Wednesday nights. The League is open to HCC members only; whereas the Mixed Scrambles are open to everyone. Call HCC at 701-567-2339 if you have any questions.

Our next events at the Hettinger Country Club are the “Foundation Nation” Scramble Golf Tourney with Jaycees Bingo on Saturday, May 21; Mixed Couples Golf League next Wednesday, May 25; and the Dacotah Bank Open on Saturday, June 4.

Thank you. Come see us. It’s nice out here.
