The NDSU Adams County Extension Service hosted the Farm Safety Day Camp that was held on Friday, May 20 at the Hettinger Armory.
The kids in fifth and sixth grade from Hettinger Public School attended the camp that afternoon. The topics that were covered at the camp were electrical safety that was taught by Judy Kirschmann from Slope Electric Coop. Chemical Safety was taught by Caleb Dalley the Weed Scientist at Hettinger Research Extension Center, Eye Safety was taught by Dr. Kludt from West River Eye Center and Grain Bin Safety was taught by Julie Kramlich the Adams County Extension Agent. The kids and teachers enjoyed the afternoon and learned something new to take home and teach their family. Each kid received a rural and fire safety books plus a bag of goodies and tee-shirt. Thank you to all the local businesses for donating money for the books that were published by Community Safety Net and help pay for resources for the camp. A big thank you goes to the instructors for teaching the classes and volunteering their time at Farm Safety Day Camp.
