Night Hawks do well at region track (PHOTOS)

Trinity may have dominated the boys 2016 regional track meet as they also did in 2015, but it was closer this year.  Last year they won by 134 points over their nearest competitor Killdeer.  This year it was only 81 points over second place Mott-Regent.

Trinity may have dominated the boys 2016 regional track meet as they also did in 2015, but it was closer this year.  Last year they won by 134 points over their nearest competitor Killdeer.  This year it was only 81 points over second place Mott-Regent.

Hettinger-Scranton made the biggest jump in points and standings from 2015.  They jumped from 19 points and 12th place to sixth place and 56 points. The Wildfire increased their point total by 32 points and moved up one place from third to second this year.   Bowman County increased their point total by 34 points and moved up one place from fourth to third.

In their first year of track after leaving their co-op with Trinity, New England finished 11th with 24 points.  Dakotah Mansfield was the big point getter for them as he finished first in the 800 meter run.

Brady Wegh of Mott-Regent had a big day as he finished in first place in the 110 hurdles, Long Jump and the Triple Jump.  Alex Bartholomay of Bowman County finished first in both the 1600 and 3200 meter run.  Top three in each event qualified to earn a spot at the state track meet in Bismarck, May 27-28.

Congratulations to Night Hawk Head Coach Kelly Pierce for earning the SW Region Coach of the Year.
