The 28th Annual West River Health Services Foundation “Fun Run & Walk” is scheduled for July 4, 7:30 a.m. in Hettinger, with registration starting at 6:30 a.m. at The Granary near Mirror Lake Park. Registration forms have been sent out to last year’s walkers and runners, but you can easily acquire a registration form at wrhs.com. For a small fee of $15 (before June 27) or $20 (after June 28), this fun road race is open to walkers and runners of all ages (includes official race day t-shirt with “Sweet 16” theme). All net proceeds go toward health and fitness equipment and other healthy endeavors at West River Health Services, Western Horizons Living Centers and/or within our area communities.
For only $5 extra, you can purchase a Fun Run & Walk raffle ticket as well. This raffle ticket includes ten separate and amazing prizes, including two rounds of 18 holes golf with cart at Bully Pulpit (from Medora Foundation); four Minnesota Twins tickets to see the World Champion Kansas City Royals on August 14 at Target Field (from KNDC radio); a cool Kayak with oars from Running’s; a Beef Bundle from Uecker Yards; two Medora Musical tickets (Medora Foundation); four FitBits from Matt Shahan, Amanda Reimer LMT, Ted Uecker and Anonymous; and a set of Youth Golf Clubs from Sheri & Ted Uecker. The winning raffle tickets will be chosen prior to the race on the 4th of July! You need not be present to win.
In fact, if you’d like to purchase one or five or a book or more of these raffle tickets, they are for sale at the Hettinger Clinic’s Front Desk or from Kim Schalesky in Administration. The funds raised go toward health and fitness equipment, as well as other healthy endeavors at WRHS, WHLC and/or our area communities.
In addition to the Kid’s 1K Run (11 and under) at 7:30 a.m., there will be a 3K Run followed by the 3K Walk. Refreshments and fruit are provided post-race courtesy of Kennedy’s Fresh Foods, Hettinger Candy Company and Pepsi. There are numerous prizes for various age groups, as well as a prize for family participation for most pre-registered family members.
So if you’re looking for something fun to do early morning on the 4th of July, come check us out at the Granary for the WRHS Foundation’s 28th Annual Fun Run & Walk. Last year we had over 200 participants. It’s sweet to stay healthy. Come join us.
