Coach Kelly Pierce provided me some info on recent basketball camps.
Coach Kelly Pierce provided me some info on recent basketball camps. He commented, “Our 3-6 grade camp was a success on May 31- June 2. We had 52 campers this year. The camp focused on fundamentals with an emphasis on shooting. The future of Night Hawks basketball looks great with all of the players excited about getting better and learning the game.”
He also added about the Denver camp, “The Denver team camp was a great success for our high school girls. Eleven girls made the trip. The camp is a great team builder with many fun activities and plenty of basketball as well. The team went 5-2 on the trip and showed great hustle and effort. Going into next season rebounding and valuing the ball will be priorities and we will stress those skills throughout the summer. Fun activities on the trip for the girls were a trip to Elitch Gardens, the annual walk around downtown Denver at the 16th Street Mall, and attending a Rockies game vs. the San Diego Padres. It was once again a great trip.”
Bowman’s Wednesday night girls league starts on June 15. The Night Hawks have two teams entered and will play four games a night.
There is also an Intensity Camp for girls entering grades seventh through ninth, June 27-30, 9:00 a.m. – Noon. Athletes can still sign up by contacting Coach Pierce. There is a University of Mary Team Camp on July 10.
The Legion baseball team split a double header with Garrison on June 9, winning the first game 19-4 and losing the second by a 10-8 score. Their games with Makoti and Surrey were cancelled and will be rescheduled.
The Babe Ruth team opened with two games at Belfield June 12 and won both of them. They were home against Lemmon the next day and were winning 12-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning when the rain and lightening started. The first game counted and they called off the second game.
The Coach Pitch and Little League teams started their season on June 9 at Lemmon. The Coach Pitch team won their game and the Little League team lost by one.
