Hamm fines Sanford Health Plan

North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm today announced a disciplinary action through a consent order with Sanford Health Plan.
The consent order lists 14 advertisements for Medicare supplement insurance products that Sanford failed to file with the Department over a five-year period. Had the ads been filed, the Department would have required several changes. Sanford has been fined $22,000.
“I am satisfied Sanford Health Plan has taken corrective action to ensure this situation won’t happen again,” said Hamm.
By law, the advertisements should have been filed with the Department within ten days of their use. The Department then reviews the filings for adherence to all advertising requirements.
