Dr. Andrew Martin Stang, 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 6 at home in Stanwood surrounded by his family.

Andy was born in Bowman, North Dakota, Oct. 5, 1945, the eighth child of Kristian and Wanda Stang. From the time he was young, Andy’s love and appreciation for animals was evident as he worked for various farmers in Reeder and Bucyrus. After marrying his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda Doe, he packed up and moved to California to attend UC Davis, earning his undergraduate degree in Animal Science. In 1969, he was accepted into UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine where he achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian.

After working briefly in Orland, Calif., Andy took a job at Northwest Veterinary Clinic in Stanwood, Wash. He quickly realized Stanwood was a great fit for the entire family and never left. Andy felt blessed to serve people and their animals with an amazing team of colleagues, employees, and friends at Northwest Veterinary Clinic. Being a veterinarian was never just a career for Andy – it was how he demonstrated his love for his community. He found great satisfaction in teaching others, whether it be local dairy families, 4-H/FFA students, or his adored grandchildren.

Andy is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Linda, his two children, Troy and Terra, their spouses, Michelle and Jeff, and his six perfect grandchildren, Alisa, Andrew, Isaac, Gabriel, Lucas, and Grace.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Andy touched are invited to a service held at Stanwood Foursquare Church 27007 90th Ave. NW Stanwood, Washington at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10. All memorial donations will go to the Stanwood High School Agricultural Department.
