A large force exercise of military aircraft has been scheduled for Nov. 15-17, 2016 in the Powder River Training Complex.

The exercise is designed to train aircrew under realistic scenarios that support full spectrum operations against modern threats and replicate today’s combat operations.

During this period, people living under the Powder River Training Complex can expect to see multiple types of aircraft utilizing the entire area. There is potential for loud noises associated with sonic booms. Those living near Ellsworth AFB may see increased flight line activity between 9:00 am and 10:00 pm each day.

This type of training is limited to 10 days each year, with each exercise lasting no more than three days. These events will only occur once each three month period, as separated into January-March; April-June; July-September; and October-December.

Non-military aircraft should thoroughly review the flight plans to avoid these areas and altitudes where aircraft will be participating. This can be done by calling 1-800-WXBRIEF or online at sua.faa.gov/.
