After 15 years of service with White Drug, JoAnn Papka is hanging up her blue smock for the last time. Papka was honored for both her service time, and her retirement during a small reception inside the store. Many patrons came by to give Papka well wishes and enjoy a piece of cake and some coffee.

Papka, who had also been with the story for five years under previous ownership, said it seemed like yesterday when she first pinned on her name tag, saying that she never thought she would spend so many years with the company.

“I love it,” she said.

She also jokingly commented that she better get out before she’s thrown out. Those surround her heard the comments and laughed at her sense of humor.

Papka said she is going to use her free time to play more cards, host social gatherings, visit, and maybe do some traveling. She also said she would still frequent White Drug, and greet people as they come in.

“I’m really going to miss the people here, they’re just too wonderful,” Papka said. “My coworkers, and everybody else.”
