There’s a new business owner in town, and at a new location. The Tilted Tulip, formerly Flowers 4U, is now headed up by Mott resident and Hettinger native Aryn Hansen.

“It’s going really well,” she said. “We had a nice Mother’s Day, and a great opening week, I couldn’t ask for a better result.”

Hansen opened her doors on Main Street on May 1. The new location sits right between the dental office and the lawyer firm. Flowers 4U was previously operating out of the back of the Eido Connect building.

Hansen said she has been interested in being her own boss, and that her mother-in-law is a florist in Minnesota. So when the opportunity arose to get into the flower business, she took it.
“I decided to take the leap,” she said.

Hansen spent the two months before her May 1 opening renovating the new location, primarily because she added coffee drinks to the floral business.

She really hit the ground running. This is one of the busiest times of the year for florist, with Mother’s Day, graduations, and Memorial Day, she has opened up right into a busy season. But she has had a lot of help, which she voiced her appreciation for.

“A lot of my friends have been there, and they helped deliver, and helped with everything else,” Hansen said. “Without them I couldn’t have done it.”

The Tilted Tulip also recently opened their green house. The first day of that service was May 11.

In the future, Hansen hopes to add baked goods, and possibly hard-scoop ice cream. The store will also be selling fireworks housed in a semi trailer that will be parked at the four-way stop closer to the July 4th holiday. Also, at Christmas time, she’s planning on having gift wrapping services.

Right now she doesn’t plan on hiring any more staff members, she’s waiting to see what kind of need there might be. And right now she has had the help of family and friends as she starts this new endeavor.

“I appreciate all the support that I’ve seen so far,” Hansen said. “I couldn’t have done it without my family and friends and husband.”

The Tilted Tulip is open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
