A gathering of family and friends of Stanley O. Oberg, 81, of Hettinger was on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Centennial Chapel of Evanson Jensen Funeral Homes in Hettinger. Military Honors will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the Centennial Chapel.
Private family burial will be held at a later date at Cedar Valley Cemetery, rural Adams County.
Stanley Orin Oberg was born on Dec. 6, 1935, in Lemmon, S.D.. He was the fifth of eight children born to Sverre and Zoie (Reed)Oberg. Stanly attended grade school at the Paranto School.
Stanley grew up helping his parents on the farm, as well as various farmers in the area. He was drafted in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. He always very proudly honored the American Flag.
Growing up on the farm he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Stanley worked many years in various jobs of construction, covering many states.
Although on occasion Stanley would like to joke around give his friends and family a “bad” time, he had a very kind heart and will be missed.
Stanley Orin Oberg, age 81, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in his home of congestive heart failure.
Surviving family members include his three brothers, Roderick Oberg, Bullhead City, Ariz., Roger Oberg, Mesa, Ariz.; Ernest Oberg, Hettinger; sister, Margaret Oberg, Billings, Mont.; and five nieces and one nephew.
