Night Hawk Cross Country Update

I asked head Stephanie Howe on the cross country team looks and her thoughts after their first meet at Bowman on August 31. Zeta Drolc is her assistant coach. She responded with the following:
“It was a great first meet, Zeta and I were very happy with the results. This is the same course where regionals will be held. The kids were excited and nervous. We weren’t expecting that many class A participants yesterday, but class A is always great competition and helps to push them during their race. Each and every one of our kids rose to the challenge.”
For The Record
Cale Schalesky ended the season last year with a PR (personal record) of 20:14 last year at state. He ran a 20:13 yesterday in Bowman where he is starting this season this year with a personal best!
Sidra Sadowsky ran this meet in bowman last year at a 23:52 and this year ran a 22:57 at Bowman it was a great way to start off this year’s XC season.
Mitchell Dalley ran a PR last year of 14:20 and is starting this season at a 13:24, great improvement!!
Brian Bartholmy has started out this season about 3 minutes faster than he started last year, which is fantastic!
Carlos Martinez is only allowed to compete Junior Varsity all season and he competed Varsity the year before last. We will have to compare his times when he logs more JV races.
Kalyn Schalesky competed her first XC meet in 2 years and she competed beautifully. She ran tough and held her own throughout the race.
Cassie Kindsfater is new to Night Hawk XC and came in with a bang yesterday. She placed 2nd in Junior Varsity! She got stronger and stronger the miles she logged!
Elizabeth Bartholmy did not compete yesterday due to illness.
“It was so awesome to watch all these kids compete yesterday, we learned we need to start putting on a few more miles during practice and we need to add more hills to our training. The first meet is always a good one to see where everyone is at. We definitely have some work to do but I am extremely proud to say these kids started off this season great! We will head to Mandan next Saturday!”
