Mott-Regent/New England down Night Hawks in Mott

The Mott-Regent/New England Wildfire kept their playoff hopes alive with a huge 34-0 victory over the Hettinger-Scranton Night Hawks on Sept. 15.  One of the keys to their win was stopping All-State running back Isaiah Kludt.  What a job they did as Kludt was held to 37 rushing yards on 22 carries.

For The Record

Josh Wallace opened the scoring for the Wildfire with a nine yard touchdown run in the first quarter.  He later scored on runs of 23 and five yards as he totaled three touchdowns for the game, along with a team leading 168 rushing yards.  Hunter Crist would add 138 rushing yardage which included a 52-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.  Tanner Zentner scored the other touchdown with a fourth quarter 3-yard run.  Zentner also added an interception.

The Wildfire defense kept the Night Hawks from any productive drives as they only totaled 35 yards while the Wildfire accumulated 356 total yards.  The Wildfire also had 17 first downs compared to the Night Hawks three.

The Wildfire has Beach, Central McLean and Grant Co. left on their schedule.  It looks like those three teams and the Wildfire will be fighting it out for the third and fourth playoff slots in Region 5.
