The Memorial Service for Terry G. Hanson, age 52 of Reeder, was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger. Pastor Ted Huffman will officiate with inurnment in Rose Hill Cemetery at Reeder, ND.
Terry Gene Hanson was born in Bowman on April 12, 1965 to Gene and Beverly (Knutson) Hanson. Terry grew up in Reeder and graduated from high school there. He drove delivery truck for the family business SnoDak Oil until the business was sold in 1993. Terry tended bar at the Office Bar in Reeder, worked at the nursing home, Halvorson’s Super Valu and NAPA. He attended Dickinson State University until his parents health declined to the point that he needed to return home to take care of them at the expense of his own health. He was hospitalized as a result of an accident at home in January 2017 and was sent to a nursing home for rehabilitation where he stayed until August.
Terry enjoyed cooking, reading, World of Warcraft and spending time with his pets. He served on the Reeder City Council, was a Mason and Shriner.
He died in his family home with his devoted dog Billy at his side.
Terry is survived by his sister Lorri Giddings (Spencer) Bismarck, his brothers Scott Martinez CA, Lyman Fargo, and Chris (Cathy) Hettinger, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Terry Owen Hanson.
Per Terry’s request, he has been cremated and a service will be held at a later date.
Memorials will be directed to the Reeder Fire Department in recognition of the heroic service of the First Responder Team.
