A fresh face at The Record

If you ever catch yourself thinking, “who is that new guy in town?” Boy, do I have some answers for you! First of all, that new guy in town is probably me.

I am the new reporter and I’m very eager to begin writing for the Adams County community. I am a recent graduate from the University of South Dakota with majors in conservation biology and English. This last summer, I worked in Medora as a North Dakota park ranger at Sully Creek. Now that the camping season is over, I’m ecstatic to be working in Hettinger with my fiancé and working full time at The Adams County Record.  In college, I worked with the university’s printing press and focused on mostly creative writing. There, I was lucky enough to get a couple short stories published in literary journals and magazines. But don’t worry, although I’ve grown accustom to making up my most of my fictional stories, I’m dedicated to good journalism and the facts.

I also look forward to getting to know the Hettinger community better. So far, it seems people in this small town know everyone and everything about each other. I grew up in the large town of Pierre, SD, and in comparison, Hettinger’s tight knit community has amazed me. Feel welcome to stop by the Record office to say hello, and while your there, suggest or submit a story for publication in the Adam’s County Record. We are always looking for new ideas.
