2018-19 NIGHT HAWK WRESTLING PREVIEW

This coming wrestling season will be a challenge for a young Night Hawk team. They graduated five seniors including three-time state champ Cale Schalesky and state placer Isaac Anderson.

For the record

This season’s team is young and lacking depth.  Four-time state champ Kyle Burwick, Carlos Martinez and Sam Urwiller are the only seniors.  Martinez placed fourth in state and wants to finish as a state champ.  Urwiller has had a tough time since taking up wrestling a few years ago but has been improving steadily and I look for him to have a good season.  The wrestlers were involved in camps during the offseason in an effort to improve their skills.  Head coach Randy Burwick has seen improvement during the preseason practices.

Other wrestlers counted on to make a difference are juniors Ty Warbis and Ezra Weichmann, freshmen Conner Andress and Cade Warbis, and eighth graders Tanner DeFoe and Tristan Pekas.  C. Warbis is nursing a back injury, T. Warbis is working his way back along with T. Defoe, all who were injured during football.

There are three young female wrestlers on the Night Hawk 17 person roster this season.  According to coach Burwick North Dakota is working to sanction girls wrestling in the future and he supports it.
