EYE on South West ND Sports

Kyle Burwick was locked in to the 126lb division at the Mandan Lions and was his usual dominant self.  Burwick had pins against Class A state champion Laken Boese of Bismarck and runner-up Clay Radenz of Century.

For the record

126 is currently overloaded with talented wrestlers, but many of them are likely on their way to 120 where the pool is a bit more watered down after state champion Carter Schmitz of Kindred.  (ND Wrestle)

Congratulations to Samantha Oase on the girls Night Hawk basketball team for being named the Dickinson Press’ High School Athlete of the week, Nov 25- Dec 1.

Lemmon, Bison, Faith and Harding Co. all lost out in the first round of the 2018 South Dakota 9-Man football playoffs on Oct. 18.  Lemmon is in the 9A division and the other three are in Class 9B.

Faith finished third in the SD State Volleyball Tournament.  The Night Hawks lost to Faith on Sep. 4, three sets to two.  Faith finished the season with a 26-1 record.

The Night Hawk boys basketball team is struggling as they have a new starting line-up and only two seniors on the roster.  They opened their season with losses at the Linton Shoot-out, Dec. 7 & 8.  Linton-HMB won 71-53 and Strasburg/Zeeland won 64-49.  They then lost to Grant Co., 69-53, on Dec. 10.  But this is a team that should improve as the season goes along.
