The Night Hawk girls are the 2018 Roughrider Tournament champs. Which I understand is the first time for a Hettinger and/or Scranton team in the 43 years of the tourney.
For the record
They opened the tourney with a 70-31 win over Richardton-Taylor 31 on Dec 4. Leading the Night Hawks were Sam Oase with 20 points, Alyssa Andress 18 and seven assists, and Abbie Kludt 12 along with seven rebounds.
Next up on Dec. 6 was Killdeer with the Night Hawks winning 65-47. Scoring for the Night Hawks were Oase 15, Andress 13, Bailee Pierce 12 (three 3-pointers) and Briana Sanford 11.
Bowman County earned their way into the championship game on Dec. 8 against the Night Hawks with wins over Beulah, 41-24, and Stanley, 43-17. The first half ended with the Night Hawks up by only four, 24-20. But the second half was all Hettinger-Scranton as they outscored the Bulldogs 34-12. Final score had the Night Hawks winning 58-32. Oase paced the Night Hawks with 17, Andress added 15, Kludt 8, and Sanford 7. Abigail Bartholomay led Bowman with 9.
Killdeer finished third by downing Stanley 56-55, Heart River defeated New England 43-20 for fifth place and Beulah over Richardton-Taylor 60-38 for seventh.
