Night Hawk girls down killdeer

Despite making only 11 free throws out of 24 attempts the Night Hawks easily downed Killdeer, 64-38, on Jan. 7 with a strong second half.

The Night Hawks only had a 32-23 lead at the half but outscored Killdeer 32-15 in the second half.

Samantha Oase led the way for the Night Hawks with 19 points, five steals and four blocks.  She was selected as the Prime Time Player for the game.  Alyssa Andress broke loose in the second half with 12 points while scoring only one point in the first half.   Andress picked up her third foul early in the second quarter which limited her playing time in the first half.  Also scoring for the winners were Carolyn Schultz 8 (two treys), Abbie Kludt 7, Briana Sanford 5, Quinn Mellmer 5, Abbi Steeke 4 and Bailee Pierce 3.  Shawnee Hanson paced the Cowboys with 12.

The win was their first region game and moved their overall record to 8-1.  Killdeer dropped to 0-2 in the region and 5-5 overall.

Circle January 15 down on your calendar as that is when the Night Hawks take on Trinity at Hettinger.  Trinity and Bowman Co. currently lead the region with 2-0 records
