For the record
In their first game they lost to Heart River, 63-25, and lost their second game to Beach, 57-48.  That put them in the seventh place game and they defeated Killdeer, 43-24.  Dickinson High won the tourney by defeating Trinity, Heart River came in third and Bowman Co. fifth.  I was surprised to see Dickinson High in the tourney and asked Scott Jung, Heart River Athletic Director, how they got in.  He responded; “I was short a team so they filled. Then New England dropped out so I had to get Trinity’s C squad to fill. It was a struggle to get 8 different teams.”
Heart River downed the Night Hawk boys 51-40 on Jan. 29.  The Cougars upped their overall record to 4-10 and 2-4 in the region.  The Night Hawks remained winless at 0-15.  Leading the Night Hawks were Jeran Anderson 14 and Warrick Dilse 11 (3 treys) while senior Cauy Shypkoski had 16 for the Cougars.
The Glen Ullin-Hebron boys improved their region record to 7-1 with a 76-40 win over Hettinger-Scranton on Feb. 1.  They outscored the Night Hawks in each quarter and with a 30 point lead the running clock started in the final quarter.  The Bearcats are enjoying a turnaround season as they recorded only one region win last season.  Scoring for the Night Hawks were Jeran Anderson 16, Warrick Dilse 12, and Jacob Dix and Brady Dillon each had 6.  Leading the Bearcats were Braden Zuroff 24, Dawson Zuroff 15 and Mason Gerving 15.
In an upset the Bowman Co. boys gave Trinity their first Region 7 loss of the season with a 55-50 win on Jan. 29.  Trinity then played Beulah on Jan 31 and thanks to a strong second half handed the Miners their first region loss, 58-46.
On Feb. 8 Faith takes on both the Night Hawk girls and boys basketball teams at Scranton.  Their Faith boys currently have a 10-6 record which includes two losses to Lemmon and one to Bowman.  Their girls team is undefeated with a 15-0 record and ranked fifth in a recent SD Class B basketball poll.  One of their victories was a 56-43 win over Bowman.
