2019 Night Hawk Track & Field Preview

I got with Head Track Coach Kelly Pierce to get his thoughts on this year’s track team. He responded with the following:
“The 2019 Night Hawks Track and Field team has many solid performers returning from last year to help lead a very young group of athletes.”
“The girls team will be led by Alyssa Andress who is a returning state track meet placer in the triple jump. She has qualified and placed over the years in several relays as well. She will also look to qualify in the javelin and long jump this season. On the track, we return a very solid group of young middle distance runners in Sidra Sadowsky, Cassie Kindsfater, and Bailee Pierce. All three return after qualifying this past season in the 3200 m relay. Sidra has also qualified in both the mile and 800 m runs. In the throws, we will ask Senior Anna Kludt to be our captain and lead a nice group of young throwers.”
“The girls team has several other young athletes who could make some noise this season. We do not have the depth of some past seasons, but hopefully we can build from past successes and grow with this group of young athletes.”
“The boys team is a very young group. It returns one state placer in Ty Lachowitzer in the long jump. He will look to return in that event and add the triple jump and sprints to his list of qualified events. Brady Dillon will return in the throws after missing last year with a shoulder injury. His freshman year he set a Night Hawk record in the discus and he will look to build upon that. The boys team will always fight number issues with many athletes playing baseball, but the athletes we have will look to set PR’s and grow as athletes in the program. Many young athletes can have a very bright future in the sport of track and field.”
“The coaching staff this year includes Zeta Drolc, Lynn Brown, Andrew Burch, and Alex Pagel. We are eager to work with our hard working athletes and see how we can continue to grow the program.”
