On July 13,
some of the best 11-man football players will square off in the annual ND Shrine Bowl game, East-versus-West at Cushman Field in Grand Forks. The 9-man game will follow. Named to the 9-man West roster from Region 4 were Kyle Burwick of Hettinger-Scranton, Cody Perkins of Mott-Regent, Zach Schmalenberger and Collin Kuntz of Richardton-Taylor, Clay Mattern of Beach and Evan Henke, Braden Zuroff, Garret Soupir and Chauncey Dittus of state runner-up New Salem-Almont-Glen Ullin. Holsteins head coach Steve Kleinjan will guide the team, aided by assistant Luke Sturn. He will also be assisted by Steve Purdue out of Ray-Powers Lake and Ben Wollenzien of Towner-Granville-Upham. 

 

Congratulation so Hettinger’s  Alyssa Andress who was honored as their school’s 2019-2020 Distinguished Student and an application was submitted to the NDHSAA for consideration as the NDHSAA/Farmers Union Distinguished Student.  Cassandra Rostvet, a junior at Northwood High School was named the 2019-2020 North Dakota High School Activities Association and Farmers Union Insurance Distinguished Student. 

 

The Hettinger golf course is putting on another Youth Golf Camp, May 29-31, for youth entering grades 3rd thru 8thYou don’t need to know anything at all about golf. In fact, it might be better if you don’t! You don’t even need to have golf clubs! We can provide those. Golf is a game you can play the rest of your life! Why not learn how at a young age! It’s great to be outside with your friends. Just attend camp and learn the basic fundamentals of golf: grip, stance, swing, putting, chipping, approaching, driving and rules. Heart River defeated Hazen 3-2 by scoring three times in the last inning for their second Region 8 win after going winless in their first two seasons. 

 

New England high school senior Tate Nordby has committed to wrestle at Dickinson State.  He helped the Dickinson High wrestling team win their first-ever state Class A Dual championship.  He finished third at 160 in this year’s state individual wrestling tourney.
