NDEMSA Honors Skaarvold

Bismarck, nd, April 13, 2019:  On April 13, 2019 The North Dakota Emergency Medical Services Association (NDEMSA) held an awards banquet to honor members who have went above and beyond in Emergency Medical Services award. There were people in your area honored. 

Siren Award 

This award recognizes an individual driver who is not licensed above the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) level. This individual goes above and beyond the call of duty, shows tremendous professionalism and a strong dedication to EMS. The nominee must be a member of the North Dakota EMS Association. 

Jay Skaarvold 

Jay Skaarvold works full time for West River Health Services as the safety officer, and full time EMR for the ambulance. Jay maintains the ambulance oil changes for us, and taking the ambulances to and from the service shops. Jay is also a military veteran, as well as being the Legion president. Jay helps the hospital as well as ambulance garage out during snow removal in the winter months. You will find him with a coffee cup in his hand and go where needed. When not working you will find Jay enjoys hunting with family along with camping and fishing during the summer months. 

He has been a very reliable EMR, who will go above and beyond his scheduled work shifts and pick up extra with backup and driving for transfers. Been known to maintain long distance travels, and getting loaner ambulances when needed, when others are unable to commit that time and travel. 

The North Dakota EMS Association was founded in 1976 and has grown to represent over 1700 North Dakota EMS providers who are trained to provide many levels of pre-hospital care.  It is the mission of this Association to provide resources, services, and effective representation for its members to continuously improve emergency care in North Dakota.  This Association is based in Bismarck.
