Harold Wolff

Harold Richard Wolff, age 90, of Hettinger, ND, passed away peacefully from this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center near Sturgis, SD.
Service of Remembrance will be Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. MT at the Centennial Chapel of Evanson Jensen Funeral Homes in Hettinger, ND. Rev. Mike Chuppe will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors will be Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
CT at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, ND. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. MT on Monday, May 13 at the Centennial Chapel in Hettinger, ND.
Harold was born on December 18, 1928 on the family farm to Christian and Anna (Schlauht) Wolf. He grew up on the family farm and later worked for Ed Zenker as a farm hand for 6 years before joining the US Army in 1951 and served for 17 months. Harold joined the US Army Reserve for 5 years. He was a blacksmith and was in New Mexico during the testing of the Atom bomb.
He returned home to North Dakota and operated an earth-mover in the construction of the Garrison Dam project and later on in Montana. In the 1960’s he was in Gascoyne, ND working for Nels Buchman and worked as security at many dances. From 1978 to 1988 Harold was employed by the city of Hettinger, ND.
Harold enjoyed playing accordion and the piano, loved spending time with his family and friend, including the Oberg boys. He loved to fish, spend time at casino’s and taking road trips. He took his uncle Jake and Mary to California several times. Harold loved going to kids’ sporting events and any other event happening in Hettinger.
Harold is survived by his three brothers, Jake (Rosalie), Ernest (Mardell) and Gary, three sisters, Dorothy Carpenter, Helen (Bob) Donner and Lorraine Mirtz and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Marvin, Willie and Johnny, sisters, Leota, Elsie and Alice.
