Colette Ahmann, age 64, of Hettinger, ND, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND,
Service of Remembrance will be Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Rev. Galen Strand will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:30 p.m.
on Wednesday, May 15 followed by a gathering of family and friends at 7:30, all at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. CT.
Colette Ann Braaten was born to Milo and Janice Braaten on September 11, 1954 in Hettinger, ND. Colette graduated from Hettinger High School in 1972 and furthered her education at NDSSS with an Associate’s Degree.
Colette met the love of her life, Charles J. Ahmann and they married on June 23, 1973. Two children were born to this union, Carlee Jo on July 5, 1976 and Carrie Jean on April 16, 1980.
After college, Colette worked at Halvorson’s Super Valu for 16 years then the Adams County Record before settling into her career at the Hettinger Clinic, where she retired after 28 years.
Colette’s activities included being involved with the Hettinger Lutheran Church, an active member of the Cowboy Band, was involved in WSI as a lifeguard and swim meet official, she loved to go bowling, play darts and was active in Beta. She was one of the local coordinators of the American Cancer Society and helped with many fundraisers and the list could go on and on…
Colette touched the lives of so many people with her warm personality, her generosity and genuine love for others. She loved showering people with gifts and never missed sending a card for any occasion.
Colette was a collector of numerous things, most famously flamingos. She was the best at hosting parties, especially on her patio and always made sure her guests were welcomed and cared for.
She loved the red Ford Mustang, NASCAR, Barbie’s, gambling, shopping (shoes and purses) and coffee dates.
Colette was the most loving grandmother to her two grandsons and her presence will be deeply missed at the hockey rink as well as the swimming pool. She was a loving mother to her two daughters who will deeply miss her in their lives. She enjoyed going to her daughter’s Salon in Fargo and also visiting her daughter in Bismarck.
Colette is survived by her husband, Charles Ahmann, Hettinger, their daughters, Carlee (Jamie) Eckart, Bismarck, ND and Carrie Ahmann, Fargo, ND; two grandsons, Hudson and Haydon Eckart; brothers, Sheldon (Barb) Braaten, Blaine, MN and Tom (Marla) Braaten, Hettinger, ND; sisters, Myla Braaten, Hastings, MN, Frances Thomas, Hastings, MN and Sandi (Clark) Talkington, Mandan, ND, a sister-in-law, Linda Weaver Braaten, Hettinger, mother-in-law, Armella Entzel, Dickinson, ND, sister-in-law Debbie Entzel, Mandan, ND, brother-in-law, Elvis (Jackie) Entzel, Killder, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
Colette was preceded in death by her parents, Milo and Janice Braaten, brother, Les Braaten, nephew, Kris Braaten and sister-in-law, Donna Braaten.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial in Colette’s honor will be established by her family.
