For the Record

A few highlights from the meet were Isaac Huber of Edgeley/Kulm winning the Class B Boys 1,600 Meters with a time of 4:17.58, a new Class B Boys state record. Beulah’s eighth-grader Harys Beauchamp surprised many with her victory in the high jump. Her personal best jump was only of 4 feet, 9 inches which is four inches shy of the state-qualifying standard. But she earned a state berth in the Southwest Region meet. One of her early jumps was 4-11, and later went 5-1 to win the event. Junior Faith Dockter of South Border was another surprise as she was only seeded 16th in the javelin with a season-best throw of 115 feet. But her toss of 138-foot, 9-inch made her a state champion.

Class B boys coach of the year honors went to Bowman County’s Jon Jahner. Izzy Shirek of Thompson was named the Class B girls senior athlete of the year, posted winning times of 45.21 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles and 15.38 seconds in the 100 hurdles.
