The Post 115 Hettinger Bears opened up the Class B Legion tournament on July 31 taking on the Post 2, 16 and under Fargo Bombers baseball team.

Down 5-0 in the fifth they fought back but loss a tough 6-5 decision. Errors hurt the Bears as they committed five and the Bombers were error free. Jacob Dix’s two run round tripper in the seventh brought them to within one but they would not score again. Mason DeFoe started the game for the Bears going one inning and allowing three runs. Jacob Svihovec pitched the final six innings.
Next up for the Bears on August 1st in the losers bracket was Burlington who had lost their first game to Mayville-Portland CG. Behind the no hit pitching of Warrick Dilse and Jacob Hetzel the Bears won a 10-0 victory. Bears pitching put down 18 batters in a row to record a perfect game. Due to the ten run rule the game went only six innings. Dilse was the winning pitcher striking out nine and Hetzel pitched the final inning and a third after Dilse went the first four and two-thirds. Hetzel struck out two of the four batters he faced. Dix went 3-3 at the plate with one RBI and a run scored. Bo Wilson and Parker Krebsbach each totaled two RBIs for the game. As a team the Bears recorded 12 stolen bases.
The Bears would face Carrington in a loser out game on August 2nd. The Bears were down going into the bottom of the seventh but managed to tie the score at five apiece. They had the bases loaded with two outs but could not get the winning run in. Carrington when on to win in extra innings and they also eventually advanced to the championship game but lost to Thompson. This was the third year in a row Thompson won the Class B.
The Post 115 Bears with players from Hettinger, Scranton, Bowman and Lemmon and coached by Nolan Dix and Rob Warbis had a successful summer.
