Night Hawk Volleyball

The Night Hawk volleyball team opened their regular season play be downing Lemmon in three sets, 26-16, 25-15 and 30-28. The Night Hawks were in control in the first two sets.

They jumped to an 8-1 lead in the first set and gradually increased their lead. Lemmon went up 3-0 in the second set and the lead went back and forth until the Night Hawks had a 12-11 advantage. They then went on to outscore the Cowgirls 13-4 to take the set. In the third set the Night Hawks were in the lead most of the way until Lemmon tied the set at 19 all. Both teams traded one point leads until the Night Hawks tied it at 28 all and went on to win as Sam Oase recorded a kill and Carolyn Schultz served the winning point.

Leading the Night Hawks in kills were Bailee Pierce 7, Oase 6 and Alyssa Andress 6. Pierce added three blocks, Talia Carter had 23 assists and Carolyn Schultz with 44 digs. Both the JV and C squad won their matches three sets to none and played really well!

On September 12 they followed up that victory with a win over a young but good Grant Co. team by scores of 25-5, 25-14 and 25-8. Grant Co. had won the consolation championship of the Killdeer Invitational by going 3-1-1. On their ten person varsity roster, eight are sophomores or younger.

The Night Hawks came out on fire in the first set with a 25-5 win and followed up with 25-14 and 25-8 wins. Sam Oase and Alyssa Andress were getting some great sets and blistering some kills. The Night Hawk C-squad lost 28-26 and 25-15 and their JV team won 25-20 and 25-21.

Leading the Night Hawks in kills were Oase 15 and Andress 11. Oase added three blocks, Andress with four aces, Talia Carter had 29 assists and Carolyn Schultz with 12 digs.

The Night Hawks first region match is at Hettinger on September 12 against Beulah.
