Duane Lyle Siewert, born February 15,1934, resident of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Hettinger, ND, passed away on August 30, 2019 at Infinity Hospice Facility in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 85 years.
Duane grew up on their family’s farm near Haley, ND. He graduated from Hettinger High School in 1951 where he was involved in FFA.
He married Virginia June Walch, September 17, 1954 where they farmed and ranched in Harding County, SD. Duane and Virginia also ran the Bowman and Hettinger Auction markets. Duane was also a 4-H leader.
He worked for Black Hills Packing Company out of Rapid city, SD buying cattle for twenty years over 5 states. He enjoyed farming and ranching-taking Sundays off for the Sabbath to enjoy with his family, going to auction sales, collecting coins, going to NFR, rodeos, gun shows and never having to use a computer.
They moved to their Hettinger home in 1971 then to Loveland, CO in 2013-2018 with their daughter Audra and in February 2018 to Las Vegas with their daughter, Audra and her fiancé, Kevin Souch.
Duane will be so very much missed by his son, Guy Siewert that resides in Decatur, TX and his daughter, Audra Siewert and her fiance’ Kevin Souch that reside in Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by his sisters, Pearletta Drolc and Minetta Zimmermann and brother, Manley Siewert; nieces, Kathy (Drolc) Gradinaru, Karen(Drolc) Massey, LaRae (Drolc) Huffman, Ardelle (Zimmermann) Ferris, Gaylyn (Zimmermann) McGregor; and nephews, Monte Drolc, Randy Drolc, Delroy Siewert, Dayluss Siewert, Daylyn Siewert, Ron Zimmermann.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, daughter, Vicki Diane Siewert, and grandson, Dustin Daniel Siewert.
Viewing will be at 10:30 am, Lunch at 12:00 pm with funeral services will be held at 2 p.m on Saturday, September 14, 2019, all at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, ND. Pastors Pete and Kathy (Drolc) Gradinaru will officiate with burial to follow in the Hettinger Cemetery.
