Lemmon, S.D. – After receiving a vehicle fire call, Lemmon first responders recovered the body of a man from a semi. The incident took place in the Lemmon IGA parking lot on October 30, at 5:31 a.m. 18 personnel from the Lemmon Fire Department responded to the call.
According to a Lemmon Fire Department press release, first responders found the driver’s semi truck “engulfed in flames” upon arrival. After a rapid recovery effort, one person was found dead in the semi. The man was the only reported casualty from the vehicle fire.
The Perkins County Sheriff’s Office, Office of the Perkins County Coroner and the South Dakota Fire Marshal’s Office are currently investigating the fire incident. The identity of the driver has yet to be released.
