In the 9-Man first round playoffs I went 2 & 2 in my predictions. I had Linton and Kidder Co. winning and Kidder Co. did win over Surrey, 24-12, and Kidder County over Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, 37-8. I had Beach and Grant Co. losing but Beach downed Central McLean, 8-0, and Grant Co. surprisingly easily handled Ray-Powers Lake, 48-6. All four Region 4 teams made it to the quarterfinals.
For the Record
Parker Hager had a big day in Kidder County’s win with three touchdowns. Junior Trey Jacob rushed for 308 yards and four TDs for Linton HMB in their win over Surrey. The only score in the Beach game came when Central McLean muffed a punt in the third quarter. Beach’s Gage Swanson would later score the only TD of the game. Beach now takes on Linton-HMB for their quarterfinal matchup on Nov. 2 at Linton. Linton-HMB defeated Beach in the regular season, 28-8. Grant Co. and Kidder Co. will meet up in the quarter finals at Steele. Kidder Co. defeated Grant Co. in the regular season by a 36-0 score. I’ll go with Linton-HMB and Kidder Co. winning.
In the Class A division Bowman Co. easily won their first round game against Kenmare-Bowbells-Burke Central, 52-0. The Bulldogs totaled 383 yards of offense, with Matt Osendorf scoring two touchdowns and Caleb Duffield adding three TDs. Minot Ryan, a 34-12 winner over New Salem-Almont, will be Bowman County’s next opponent at Bowman on Nov 2. Other local first round Class A scores were Velva over Killdeer, 47-7 and Shiloh Christian downing Des Lacs-Burlington, 43-12.
